365 days

wow, i know i have been absent for quite some time, but here we go again.

i just read about this awesome project on the website of my fave NL magazine, Flow.

Basically, the idea is to create and image of something hand lettered every day for the whole 2012 (365 days). There are a lot of similar projects, for instance taking a pic every day or doing an illustration etc.

What a great idea for inspiration and a wonderful way to start off the new year.

The Earth Fair Food Market @ St Georges

Hmmmm...

Open every Thursday from 12.30 until 18.30 (since 17th February 2011)

Where, you ask? Upper St Georges Mall, opposite the Cathedral. The market is off Wale Street and Church Street.
And if you are not within walking distance, apparently there is secure parking available in the Mandela Rhodes Place, as well as on street parking.

How social networks can help the Police. A LOT.

Unbelievable. This guy, on the run from the law, lead the police right to him by updating his social networking status. His address, work, even working hours were posted on FBK, making it quite easy for authorities to pick him up.

"If it wasn't for criminals like him our job would be a lot harder," Capt. Richard Podgers said. The police even posted a thank-you note to Crego's Facebook page that read "it was due to your diligence in keeping us informed that now you are under arrest."

nice one

art for breakfast

Oliver Schwarzwald (german photographer) recently created this series of editorial photographs for german mag Feld Homme. The photographs consists of assorted food stuffs that is typically eaten for breakfast in different countries.

Personally, I don't think it was intended to be taken too literal, with some foods perhaps under-represented (eg US breakie that is sans bacon). But what an interesting conceptual and creative work, showing only the food, no containers. Nicely executed.
